Hmm.. plenty of nex7 fanboys here ;-)

I'd like to advocate micro 43. Nice native lenses, decent image quality. 12
Mp is enough, as the original 5D demonstrated ;-). I'm not surpised to find
many people drooling on 24 mp on this forum though, crowded as it is with
gearheads (including myself of course).

I don't see a bigger advantage of the nex7 besides the integrated
viewfinder. I'm quite sure micro four thirds will have a comparable body
before long (bet they are working on it). I don't feel the urge to change
systems, because the sony lens collection is still very limited.

So the list of cons is bigger I think:
- 24 mp: that means you'll need a *fast* computer for post processing. If
you don't have one already, it guess it would set you back some 900 Euro's
or Dollars. And they choose this sensor over the 5n sensor, which tests
better. You are buying a camera from a company that prefers pixels over
quality! (Well at least they don't donate to the Kaymans, but that is
another story ;-)
- limited lens selection, and some not really well tested. Mounting ancient
glass is something all mirror less systems do. Mounting alpha lenses is not
really practical, and I wouldn't call the use of 43 lenses on m43 an
advantage either. If you're looking for portability, which for me is one of
the main usp's of m43, you'd be wise to stick with the native lenses.
- sony means a quite expensive closed eco system
- panasonic/ olympus are really pushing interesting lenses. The recent 12mm
and 45mm Olympus lenses qualify, and the announced Panasonic 12-35mm and
35-100 look very promising too (they are expected to be 2.8 lenses).

If you prefer Panasonic, consider (and wait for) the GX-1, an E-P3
equivalent camera. With a decent viewfinder like Olympus if you need it. It
will be bundeld with a very compact 14-42mm X type lens. Quite an
achievement, Sony felt instantly the need to declare that they were
designing more compact lenses too... (message understood I guess)

It might be good to point out that the Panasonic 7-14mm, 14mm and 20mm have
no IS (that is why they are quite compact), so only coupling with an
Olympus body gives you IS. The regular Panasonic 14-42mm is the lower cost
current kitlens, the 14-45mm the original kitlens (G1). It has a better
reputation.

I just got my 45mm 1.8 portrait lens, looks and feels good ;-). With the
14mm and the 20mm it gives me a very light, versatile kit. My main camera
so far was an e-p1, recently updated to an e-p2 with evf (which is quite
nice). The AF is quite slow, not as fast as the current line (where af
speed actually stopped to be an issue), but I'm quite slow myself ;-). I
can still live with that. My next camera will be a cheap e-pm1 (preferably
purple), or the m43 with integrated viewfinder. My wife has an e-pl2 with
14-150mm and is quite happy with it too. The AF improved on that model, and
the long zoom performs surprisingly good.

Whatever you choose, enjoy the portability of mirror less! If you want some
more specific experience of m43 ask off line.

Best, Frank.
