I have examined all of these fine photos, and there most assuredly is no 
C-97. I believe what you mean is C-46, but am not entirely sure, but I am 
sure that there are no stock C-97's currently flying, although the Super 
Guppy conversions may still be in use.

What interesting things remain in the air in strange places. I remember my 
African trip, with quite a batch of aviation history.

     I've been keeping track of a superstorm in the Bering Sea, and while 
looking through the Anchorage newspaper website I came across this gallery

All sorts of neat stuff, like a C-97 (Salmon Ella), DC-6, L-300 (stretch 
civilian C-130), Grumman seaplanes, and all sorts of other aircraft on 
floats, skis, sunk in mud, etc.
