I don't think that I used the word "unprecedented", Chuck, I merely said that I 
had not encountered it in this country while flying.  I do remember the Big 
Freeze of 1963, although I was only 9.  I had just started boarding school in 
this country and my home was in Bahrain so it was a bit of a shock!

I also remember the heat wave of 1976: I had just started flying training and 
we flew over coal seams that had started to burn, in Yorkshire.
