The reason you got the 5D MkII for the price you did is that it was well 
known that the MkIII was not far away.  If anything it was announced a 
bit later than expected.

When the 5D MkI was announced on Nov. 12, 2005 the price at B&H was the 
list price at $3,299.  I bought it 6 months later on May 14, 2006 and 
paid $2619.95... 2919.95 to B&H minus the value of a $300 rebate card 
from Canon.  Canon giving rebates means that it wasn't flying off the 
shelves at the store prices.

Just wait a while until the pros who really need a new camera have 
scooped up the initial production.  The price will drop soon.
