Ah! But there are exceptions. Sometimes we remember the ones where the
brides are drop-dead beautiful.

We also remember the wardrobe malfunctions, but those are pretty
common. Once in a while a wardrobe malfunction can take on a whole new
level though. Those ones tend to stick in the mind for a while.

A few of the memorable weddings for me:

1. Divorce proceedings beginning before "I Do". Way too common.

2. Three dads walking the bride down the aisle.

3. Brat Ring-bearer having a meltdown halfway down the aisle.

4. Ring-bearer and flower girl getting into a shoving match halfway
down the aisle.

5. Getting stiffed for $600.

6. Wardrobe Malfunction where the push-up bra underneeth the
sleeveless, strapless dress ceased to push-up mid ceremony in a not so
subtle manner. The sound of something breaking was heard a second
before the squeal. Once you hear one snap your brain is forever tuned
to the sound and you'll know one is coming before it happens.

7. Ripped pants--way too frequent.

8. The preacher deciding to preach a 45 minute sermon in the middle of
the ceremony--way too frequent.

9. I'd have stories about way too many grooms to even start mentioning
them. Trust me, NO amount of beer will improve your intelligence. Or
your appearance.

10. Bridezilla!!! There was one which went into launch mode. I took
her aside and reminded her that on this one day, I'm her best
friend--don't mess with me. I can choose to photograph the wedding one
of two ways. She doesn't want me to photograph it showing her having
meltdowns. I've never had this chat fail yet, but there was one that I
didn't even bother with--everybody knew she was always a certain way
so just shoot the good/bad/ugly.

11. I generally avoid food at the reception. This strategy has served
me well and when I do eat something, I'm very selective. One wedding
there was something out there that just looked a little funky. Later
in the evening people were getting sick.

12. I assisted for a wedding where the photographer took 90 minutes to
do the formals. That was about 70 minutes too long. Major crash and
burn.

13. Bride gets broken arm in car door when the door slams shut as they
were leaving. (they spent there honeymoon night in ER).

14. Kilt. There's alwaya a kilt story sooner or later.

15. Groom deciding he was gay an hour before the wedding. (I'm sorry
that I led you to believe I am available, but you're on your own,
buddy).

16. One wedding I shot I think the bride was Malaysian. Been too long
ago so I forgot, but it was a blended wedding of that culture and a
western Christian culture. Kinda two ceremonies in one. She wore this
yellow dress that was simply stunning. I've never seen a more
beautiful bride ever. There is beauty, but then there is perfection.
And she had a perfect personality too. (oh, and highly intelligent).
Honestly, I don't recall taking any other pictures other than of her.
I recall when I first saw her, my first word was "Wow!" Typically, the
groom would be a real dweeb, but even he looked good. Talk about
attention to detail, on the wedding cake the little bride/groom were
hand carved and painted to precisely match their appearance on wedding
day.

So, as you can see by #16, not all rememberences are bad. You live for
that rare one.
