Are you asking about the original S9000 of around 2003 or the newer one of 2010?

I had the original S9000. I'll say that it was an excellent printer in
nearly every way. One thing to keep in mind, though, is that it is a
dye printer, not pigment printer. The dyes do fade unless you use an
encapsulating paper. The Ilford Galerie Classic papers in glossy or
semigloss are best. The surface of these papers absorb the fluid and
then as it dries the surface closes back up sealing the dyes inside.
I've written about my various tests of the prints, but in a nutshell
will say that using this particular Ilford paper, the dyes are more
than stable and are good for the long haul. The quick-dry papers will
outgas and fade.

The print quality is incredible. The blacks are intense. The
saturations bold, the gradients smooth. It is just fine in this
regard. I have no complaints with the image quality. A glossy print
from this printer exceeds the DMAX of anything but Cibachromes.

The printer was quite reliable. The print head is replaceable. The ink
tanks are 100% passive so they can be refilled with bulk inks very
inexpensively. I converted mine to continious feed. That was a bit of
a pain, but worked well.

At this point, the S9000 is pretty old. Mine went to the landfill
earlier this year. Don't cry for them, though. The S9000 literally
wore out and the two S900 ones were bought off of ebay for peanuts for
parts to keep the S9000 running.

Paper options are minimal. I'd stick exclusively with the Ilford
Galerie Classic papers. Nothing else. Due to the curved feed, you
cannot use stiffer than card stock without causing problems.
