Thanks for the reference, Chuck. You may have missed the reference in the
opening paragraph to the page being only selected highlights (page
maintainer's favourites) from a well-known archive "unlikely to come as news
to you". Well it did come as news to me - the source for all the images (and
more) is www.shorpy.com which has an index of hundreds of similar Kodachrome
images (and countless others) - up to 1500x2000 pixels.

A friend sent me this link this morning.  I found it very interesting with
some great photos.  Kodachrome sheet film at this time was only ASA
8 (daylight) or 10 (type A, movie lights) which probably explains the use of
much supplementary light which I assume is flash but might be incandescent
movie lights.
