I don't "need" 12800. Sure would be nice to have, though. But I've
taken the approach through life that if I really don't have the right
tools for a particular type of job, let somebody else do that job and
I'll go exploit the jobs that I do have the right tools for.

Or, I'll find alternative ways to still accomplish the job.

Last time I checked (last night), I still have tripods in the Jeep.
Used my big one, in fact. Minute long exposures. I recon that with the
latest/greatest super-speed Nikon/Canon, I could have done that
handheld at 1/400.

Yet, shooting nighttime receptions where the bride wants the entire
room lit by a half-dozen candles this kind of performance would be
welcome.
