I have a parrot story. An antique shop I used to frequent featured Poncho, a
rather large parrot who spent his time in a large cage near the check-out
counter. One day I was in the shop cruising around looking for old fountain
pens. My search pattern took me past Poncho a number of times. Each time I
approached, he would look at me, clear his throat in the parrot manner, and
say, "Cracker?" Very much with the question mark. And I would say "Sorry," and
go on. The last time I passed him, he repeated his request for a cracker. I
stopped, leaned toward him and said, "Poncho, I've told you ten times already I
don't have a cracker." He just looked at me, cocked his head to the side, and
said, "Cookie?"

I nearly wet my pants.
