When I was a kid in high school I used to work in a pet shop. Your
comments about parrots reminds me of the parrot we once took in on a
consignment sale. I've forgotten his name and species but he was a
predominantly green Amazon parrot, possibly a Yellow-headed Amazon. He
was supposedly about 50 years old and had plenty of tricks up his
virtual sleeve. One was to mimic the elderly female boss's voice when
she called her miniature poodle to the back of the store... Here,
Nanette! Here, Nanette! The dog would obediently run to the back of
the store every time. But his best trick was reserved for good looking
young women. They'd walk up to his cage and try all sorts of things to
get him to talk. No response. But as soon as they turned around to
walk away he'd give them a big wolf whistle. Loud, very well done and
unmistakeable about what it was. It always stopped them dead in their
tracks. :-)

I left before he was sold and have no idea who bought him.
