Chuck I don't have time to track down the SS's right now but I assume a 
faster speed. When shooting for a future stitch I don't like to get the 
sun in the shot for obvious reasons. (but sometimes I break that rule) 
In that pan the sun is just out of the frame. Even a single shot near 
the sun is going to have a strong gradient. The object is no or minimal 
blown highlights. If I had shot the entire scene manually based on that 
bright area the rest of the view would have been practically black. A 
fixed aperture is necessary for DOF reasons.
