     Also pays to watch where you put your hands when climbing.  I've had 
plenty of encounters with Western Diamondbacks, and since I'm aware of their 
striking distances I can get reasonably close to take a good photo every so 
often.  I'd like to get one to stay still long enough so I can set of the 
tripod and get some telephoto shots of the head.

     Another find on that trip was nothing out of the ordinary, but I did take 
the time to get some detail closeup photos of a White Ratany flower:

     It has a very bizarre form, looking a bit like a roaring male lion.
