     I hadn't nticed it earlier, but there is a faint halo surrounding the 
eclipse, due to a light amount of moisture in the air.  That adds even more to 
the photo.

     Many years ago I was in a photographer's gallery in Jerome, and I was 
looking at a large format print of a photo he had taken in Monument Valley.  We 
got to talking about that photo and he remarked that clouds in desert landscape 
photos add to the overall sense of the scene.  He then asked me if I noticed 
anything odd about the photo.  I looked and looked but couldn't detect anything 
out of the ordinary.  He then said to look at the bottom of the clouds.  They 
were faintly orange, due to sunlight reflecting off the orange sand.

     Since then I've made a point of looking for unique landscape opportunities 
when clouds are present, especially convection cumulus clouds in the summer as 
they tend to be the most dramatic.
