In Canon gear I'd opt for the 24-105/4 with longer range, less weight,
smaller filter and less than half the price at a cost of just 1 stop...
resolved by the ISO button. A friend recently offered me a used one in
very good condition which was tempting but I couldn't see enough
advantage in replacing my film era Tamron SP 24-135/3.5-5.6. IIRC, I
paid USD 79 for it from a Salvation Army (or some such) listing on ebay.
It drew no other bids for some reason. A tad slow to focus, has some
pincushion distortion at the wide end, another stop slower on the long
end but great range, light weight and still makes fine photos at an
unbeatable price. :-)
