I will agree with your analysis. I had an original OM-2 and didn't
understand why it would expose so much differently under certain
conditions than the OM-2S. Eventually, I did learn about the curtain
variances.

When shooting people photography, I think the CWA gives a more
accurate exposure, but when shooting landscapes I prefer averaging.

These days, I'm actually doing more handheld metering than in-camera
metering. Go figure.
