I totally agree! In the case of the tan walls, this works out pretty
well with the safelights. No major biggy there.I also deplore having a
fully black darkroom. I do prefer a little bit of neutrality in tone,
though. With sample photos hanging on the walls, this gives me a good
eyeball calibration for comparing the working print with the samples.

The other aspect is that the lights are on in the darkroom more than
they are off. As such, the environment has to be visually pleasing.
