Thanks for all those, Ian.  The time-lapse clips were a good idea and were 
rather entertaining.

In defence of the Met Office, the low level wind, below around 500ft agl, is 
pretty difficult to forecast: it's affected by all manner of local conditions 
and topography.  The Met Office is pretty good at forecasting the "geostrophic 
wind", though -- the one at 2,000ft.
