Wow, I never expected this thread to garner so much discussion!

So, for the past couple of days, I've been working with the Eye-Fi card
trying to get it to do what I really want it to do. To say that it's a
little convoluted is a bit of an understatement. Maybe in my old age I'm
getting more and more confused. Regardless, after much trial and
error--mostly error, I do believe that I'm finally getting on with it.

The fun part is in working it as a relay where it uploads the image from
the camera to the phone and then on to the final destination. I had it
working pretty well, but discovered a bit of a problem. The DMC-L1's JPEG
file sizes are all too large for easy and quick file transfer to the
on-line services. I was struggling with that a bit until I found some
advanced settings which allows me to resize the image prior to upload to
the online site. This also addresses an issue with the Facebook app where
it crashes when trying to upload too large of an image.

I'm sure I'll have another few rounds with it before I've settled in with a
working configuration. I will suggest that it's a shame they don't have a
CF version of it because the E-1 would be a perfect camera for sourcing the
image files. The L1 just has a few little operational quirks which make it
less than ideal.

My setup that I had today was the phone in my pocket, the camera in my
hand. I'd "protect" images and they would just magically appear in an
online gallery. Because of file size issues (now resolved), it took quite a
while for 40 images to upload. It's MUCH quicker now.

Anyway, it is a really cool toy and I'll definitely get my $40 worth out of
it.
