In situations like this, if I can I use a known vertical somewhere to check for
being parallel to the sides of the screen.
Doesn't work very well for tilted camera shots where the best you might be
able to do it check in the middle.
FastStone has a checker which includes adjustable horizontal and vertical
grid lines.
