Surprised me too Chuck, although Energizer claims a 2% loss per year
with their 303 battery. All I know is that I got my money's worth out
of that first set of batteries: purchased with the calculator in 1983.
Used heavily for a number of years, then little, irregular use until
they failed around 2005. Pulled the old batteries and was pleased to
see they were SR-44's which I had on hand in the OM bag. Been running
merrily since.
