There was an article in yesterday's newspaper (The Independent) about possible 
links between schizophrenia and regular use of cannabis:

And it is continued with Part 2 today.  My brother certainly suffered mentally 
from his heavy and frequent use of the drug.  But I suppose that alcohol or 
tobacco has a lasting effect, albeit in different ways.
