I've been digital for 6 odd years now and never had problems with the
L1 screen. The D700 still has this plastic cover on that catches dust
in between but who cares after all. The Olys are ok too, the best
choice was the E620 with its swivel screen, so was the G1 :-)

OTT "modern" lenses use glass that is not as scratch-prof as it used
to be - having scratched a lens just gently cleaning it the old way we
always wear filters, and were inspired as Alice accidentally dropped
her bag containing the E620 and D Vario Elmarit when we were in
Barcelona last month - there was glass everywhere in her bag, the
filter glass, not the lens :-) which still operates wonderfully. The
good thing is that without begging for jewels, she's now got an extra
72mm ring for free ;-)

Spare batteries - Olies and Lumixes take spares from China alright.
The D700 refused his after a couple of cycles - I bought the real
thing as soon as I realized the battery was the cause of the
triggering failures.

Hope this helps
Philippe
