Do you refer to the old 4/3 14-45mm or the Panasonic m43 14-45mm?

Neither have the weather resistant capability of the 12-50mm. I've used the
12-50mm a lot on my holiday in Italy (mostly Venice), and it performed very
well. I'd say you can't go wrong ordering it as part of a kit. If you're
not satisfied, you can sell it without loosing to much (but you won't).

The 14-54mm would be nice (especially the mk 2, which will focus slightly
faster), but it's AF is slow, and needs an additional mmf3 adapter to keep
the combination weather resistant.

Many pictures of Italy with the e-m5 can be found here: <
http://wijsmuller.eu/index.php?/category/1>. Other lenses used were the
9-18mm, the 20mm and the 40-150mm (least). There is 'shooting information'
at the bottom.

Is that fotodiox adapter without contacs? Now why would you want to use
that? 43 lenses with a mmf adapter at least give you the benefit of an
enlarged view when turning the focus dial... And setting the correct focal
length for the ibis... And...?

Best, Frank.
