As if this should come as any surprise to anyone.  If you aren't paying for
the service, you (and your info) are the product being sold.

Google is no less evil in this regard. They just have a better PR firm,
probably.  

The least evil of all the large service provider types of companies is most
definitely Apple.  Not only since it's in their ethos and historical
philosophy to not screw over their customers, but also because they are
*not* a "provide-no-product-of-real-value" type of company like FB, google,
etc.  - which are all basically just advertising platforms, at the crux of
it.  

Apple produces tangible goods, which is where their money comes from. They
don't need to steal your photos, info, etc to make money. They already made
it when you bought your iPad.  And the profits from that subsidize stuff
they offer for free.
