Not at all. Trends are for the trendy, and those who want to attract/impress
them. I'm far more interested in tools to
make presentation of my images easy to view at good quality.

Well, I call it a Photo Blog. It's mostly about the images, with minimum words.
Apropos your comment "I do like the
extra oomph that you experience with 900 vs. 800. 1000 broke the system.", I
wanted to display relatively large images.
I've managed to modify a WP template to accommodate images 1024 pixels wide.
(You know why 1024, I'll bet. ;)

As I've said (too) any times, I'm deeply frustrated by web size display. I have
an image on screen that I think is just
great. No matter how I do it, by the time it's 800 pixels (600, Chuck?
Really?), it's often just lost the magic.

Phillipe's images on LUG are great examples, too. They look so much better at
the large size.

OK, so they aren't ideal for little computers, and HD video oriented displays,
including my own netbook+. They mostly
have poor displays with the wrong colors, anyway.

Here's where there is an important advantage to the blog display format. While
one can use galleries, like Singapore and
Gallery2, on tablets and phones, they are a pain to navigate.

My blog style galleries work just fine on our iPad and iPhone5, with Safari,
Chrome and Dolphin browsers. The text is
too small on the 'Pad and way too small on the 'Phone. I would like to find a
way to control that for different platforms.

Sure, the images are small, especially on the 'Phone, but surprisingly good
looking on the retina displays. And finger
gestures up and down size them (and the text) rather nicely. Perhaps more
importantly, viewing seems to be intuitive for
regular touch screen device users. Spinning down the gallery with a finger is
more in keeping with the device paradigm
than poking at a lot of 'buttons'.

Perhaps more from others and less from Moose? ;-)
