My blood pressure went down 5 points when I started doing the same. I was
known for flying pretty low. Must be a good example for the teenage
daughters now. But someday another Mazda sports car might grace my garage.
If so, I'll be out at the Iowa Speedway every time they have the road track
open for testing. That's entertainment money well spent.

These days, I get my thrills when it snows. I seek out opportunities for
pretend speed conditions, sliding the jeep around in parking lots and park
roads. You really aren't going to get into too much trouble when your top
speed is about 25 mph.

Here in Iowa, we've got several speed-trap cameras (as well as those
accident causing red-light cameras. (yes, they've caused a HUGE increase in
accidents since installation). One suburb of Des Moines, Windsor Heights,
has been trying to get a camera system installed on the interstate going
through their burg for the purpose of revenue generation. Fortunately, the
DOT keeps slapping them down, but they keep trying different ways to
finangle their way into this cash cow.

BTW, the speed cams in Cedar Rapids do the time-subtract thing too. They'll
nail you if you pass the cameras at the right speed, but then happen to
zing through the middle part. Ohio, on the turnpike ,used to ticket based
on time stamps years ago. I just assumed they still did.
