I don't have an FL-50 but they work fine in everything from a T-32 and 
old Sunpak flashes to my Canon 540-EZ.  For old flashes like the T-32 if 
they're NiCad compatible they'll work with NiMH.  But you will need a 
good quality charger if you don't already have a charger for NiMH 
batteries.  Unlike common NiMH batteries these Sanyos hold a usable 
charge for years just setting on the shelf.  I have a couple of other 
brands of "pre-charged" NiMH batteries but I find I prefer my Sanyos. 
My oldest ones are probably 4 or 5 years old and still going strong.
