Its' first cousin, fluosilicic acid, is commonly used by water systems to add 
fluoride.  When spilled, it likes to see what is inside concrete and steel.

Now that is a nasty one. Used it once for glass etching...decided it was just 
too risky. My brother told me it was sometimes used by dental technicians when 
making crowns and castings.
It is not a substance I would use again.
