I took a standard, cheap Chinese chrome plated brass adapter and cut a shoulder 
in the outer front edge. Enough to clear the aperture pin on the lens mount. 
This required a lathe as the cut-waway needs to be around the whole 
circumference. My lathe skills are woeful, but I managed. 
Like you, I did not want to spoil my 50/1.8 and 135mm FTL lenses, or any future 
ones I find.
The lenses are good for age.

But the real question is - has anyone ever found an FTL where some of the paint 
has NOT come out of the front prism OLYMPUS engraving
