I've done corporate application development, and had to support it myself. Say
that something I made doesn't work on a
supported platform goes right past any sarcasm, irony, satire, etc. filters and
sets off a panicky check of function.

So what is standard for use on both conventional PC/Mac/Linux browsers and
phone/pad/tablet? Examples?

Things like Gallery 2/3, Singapore and other similar things seem so kludgey on
the iPad, and pretty useless on the phone.

I really don't care about fashionable, (non-)standard and such. I'm interested
in the easiest, most natural, least
intrusive way for people to browse my images.

The horizontal roll model would be fine. Although even that can be screwed up.
The Nat'l Geographic iPad app is really
slick, and beautiful. But when I gesture it sideways to another image, the
'detents' aren't strong enough, so often have
to fine tune it.

I would love to have scrolling display, horizontal or vertical, that always
lands on one image with a flip of the finger.

So how might one implement that in a browser? I'd be happy with a display
application that uses different models for
conventional vs. pad viewing, as long as it uses the same library of images.

I can imagine an app that accesses galleries directly, outside of browsers, to
display them in the device's native mode,
but don't know of any.

In summary, it's easy to criticize, especially in generalities, without
examples. How about some creative suggestions
for improvement?
