K-Mount register distance is 45.46 mm.

Nikon F = 46.5
Olympus OM = 46
Contax/Yashica C/Y = 45.5
Konica AR = 40.5

On his mount, the first three will focus past infinity, probably not noticeable
on C/Y, and slightly less close than on
their native mount. The Konica lenses will not even come close to focusing at
infinity, useful for close-up/macro only.

If one does some similar modification to the OM mount, it would only be really
useful for Nikon F mount lenses, which
would focus slightly past infinity.

A 44 mm register distance is the reason Canon EOS (EF mount) is the almost
universal recipient body for SLR lenses.
Register distances Short (38.58) and Shorter (20.00) are why there are adapters
for 3/4 and µ4/3 for so many lens mount
types.
