I've been struggling with getting my laptop into full working order for
over six weeks. It had the Win7 OS when it was given to me, which was pretty
bad. I experimented with Linux, which was every bit as bad though in different
aspects. I finally learned how to reinstall the WinXP/HE that it had
originally before our local "computer expert (NOT)" monkeyed with it by
installing Win7 and rendering it almost useless, which is why it was given to
me.
I ended up using both IE9 and Firefox on the Win7 platform to overcome the
problems, and saw that there were distinct differences in how certain web pages
were displayed between the two. This might not be a fair assessment, as Win7
on this particular WinXP machine was a bit unstable.
This machine is now back to WinXP/HE and will remain that way, as it is
stable and reliable. Period.
