ACR has come a long ways. Not that it was bad before, but it is much
better than it was. Along with that, I think we've all done a pretty
good job of progressing with our skills. Today's cameras are doing a
lot of things behind the scene. I've been applying a lot of those
things to the old A1/E-1 images and find that I can squeeze a lot more
out of it than I ever was able to before. The one thing that
Studio/Viewer was unable to keep pace is in highlight recovery. The
E-1 really needs highlight recovery to preserve the blown highlights
which are a result of the additive processing of the sensel merge
instead of a straight averaging which other conversions use.
