RI is one of the most beautiful places, but it lacks only one thing: good
mechanics. Thats how I became familiar with cars and car repair. Now with AZ
and Advance Auto renting all kinds of tools, I am not afraid to take on any
project...

The tipping point was when I went to have the Fuel Pump harness replaced,
because it got damaged on one of the offroading trips to bring supplies at the
wildlife sanctuary my former employer established and maintained. Once I got
the car back, there was a wobbling noise coming from the back, to which I did
not pay much attention to until day two, because the service was performed at
the most reputable dealer in the area. Couple of days later it really started
to bother me and as I checked myself, found in horror that the lug nuts of the
wheel that was removed during the repair were about to fall out.

Back in October I bought a brand new Suzuki SX4 and am enjoying that 7yrs 100K
warranty. It drives like an Audi, but better and it has the reliability of a
Honda. Oh, and it is much prettier. Too bad Suzuki pulled out of the US market,
but you Canadians and Europeans are very lucky.

Best

Hi Jim, >I remember those rims, beautiful, but easily damaged. Modern tyres are
great with that extra rubber sticking out :) >For what little distance driving
we do in our early 80s, we bought a 2007 >V70 Turbo. It drives wonderfully,
but I would not attempt to do much >maintenance on it myself. Now that the
factory warranty has expired, I take >it to a local independent Volvo garage
which has a Volvo boneyard on the >premises. They have managed to get access
to the factory website, and have
>a very competent mechanic in charge. Life is good! I use a local place for
>most of my vehicle servicing, as I've
sort of retired the thought of paying a few thousand dollars
for a repair on things like electrics is something I can do
without. And I have an electronics background, and the
manuals from the internet, so ... I would draw the line at the engine
management system
as well as bow to an instrument fitter for other things that
also require experience over knowledge ! Cheers
