Thanks for the kind words, Mike.  From my on-line search, these appear to be 
White and Red Dead Nettle.  I have seen the red in previous years, but this 
is the first time I have seen the white variety.

This plant is apparently wide spread in the Southeastern U. S.  I recall 
seeing a Eurasia connection in one of the varieties that I looked at, but 
can't recall whether or not it was this one.

The ZD 35mm is one of the sharpest lenses I have, and the AF makes it 
appropriate for a lot of photo ops.  Here is one of my favorite images from 
this lens:
