Now, I'm not a black and white expert. And as far as I can tell this shot is 
sharp, and the composition is fine.

But something about it bothers me, and that is that the lighting seems (what 
I will call) too flat. Maybe experts call it something else. There's no 
directional lighting. I think some could have lifted this image to a higher 
plane.

I do know that I don't like very contrasty B&W prints, but that's another 
extreme.
