I've not seen the degree of error Daryl mentions but certainly MF lenses 
on my Canon 5D don't meter accurately.  But I've never worried about it 
too much since I tend to use "expose to the right".  I adjust as 
necessary to push the histogram to the far right and avoid using the 
meter if I can (although I often use it as the first test exposure)
