I now recall that it was all made easier for me than it was for you because
I was shooting the Z 35-80 on the 5D. I could have just hyperfocal-ed it
but I think it was actually easier for me to get a focus point ahead of me
in about the right place with a flashlight. HFD focusing with the 35-80 is
a bit of guesswork anyway as it lacks a scale (natch -- zoom and focus
rings separate).
