No, I don't normally buy such things although I did on my new Chrysler
Town & Country. The drive train was already covered but, as the
top-of-the-line model it's chock full of very expensive electronics. I
felt (whether correct or not) that the failure of a single device (over
7 years) could easily exceed the $700 cost of the warranty.

Caveat emptor: I didn't notice until I got home that the warranty the
dealer sold me was not a Chrysler warranty. I should have been more
careful (since I'd never dealt with that dealer before) but I hadn't
expected such an underhanded deal. I'd never heard of the warranty
company, did some Googling and found that there were scads of complaints
about failure to honor the warranty or to honor the supposed 30 day
cancellation policy. People were canceling, not getting a refund and
also not having any warranty. I was back at the dealer's door at 8:00am
the next morning demanding that they change it to a Chrysler warranty as
I had intended. They tried to convince me that I had it wrong, that I
must have been looking at the record of a different but similarly named
company. Not so. I insisted. I got my Chrysler warranty and about an
$85 refund since the Chrysler warranty was cheaper than the imposter.
I'll likely not be going back there.
