I hadn't bought a new car since my 1989 Mazda 929. But I surprised
myself and did buy a new Chrysler Town & Country this year. I had
actually been shopping for a 2011 or 2012 with low mileage and had
located a 2012 with 20,000 miles that had everything I wanted. But the
following day at another dealer I located a 2013 that was identically
equipped and even the same color. It happened to be the last day of
Chrysler's sales promotions and I was offered $3,600 off the list price
from Chrysler before I ever even started any negotiations with the
dealer. That ultimately brought the price difference down to about
$3,500 for a new car with a new car warranty and 47 miles on it to a
used car with 20,000 miles on it. I figured the additional $3,500 was a
good deal in terms of mileage and model year depreciation.

I've been a happy camper since. We love the car. It's far quieter and
much more comfortable than the 2008 Toyota Sienna it replaced and also
gets better gas mileage... 25 vs. 23.5 miles/gallon for the trip to/from
Florida from New York. It also has automagic everything unlike the
Toyota. I also love the way the middle and rear seats fold flush into
the floor. The entire area behind the front seats is usable for cargo
and it will also carry 4x8' sheets of building materials. Cool.
