I remember going to Death Valley in early October 2008.  We deliberately 
went at that time to avoid the summer heat.  Even so, by late 
morning/early afternoon the temperature was 105F.  But the humidity was 
so low that it was actually fairly comfortable.  But 115 in Vegas in 
late July/early August is still hot. :-)
