It's important to know how the credit card co. insurance works. In some (I've
been told many/most) cases, it is
supplemental to our own auto coverage. So the a claim must first be filed with
your personal insurer, then whatever they
don't pay gets passed on to a claim with VISA/MC/Amex/whatever.

I have an add-on on my Amex card. When I rent a car with it, they charge a flat
rate of $18 for a rental period up to 42
days. The coverage is primary, covers everything but liability, has no
deductible and works in most countries.

A wonderful deal when we rent for a month in New England, still a good deal for
a rental of more than a few days. Same
price for a month in the UK.

Costs more, $25, if you don't live in Calif. Details.

Check it out, you might want an Amex
card, if only for this trip.
