I continue to wonder why you seem to dislike sky/cloud detail.
Even if you want a silhouette effect, it seems to me to be defeated here by the
loss of foliage detail along the edges
of the trees. Notice how much more detail appears here.

Otherwise, it looks like some sort of fade effect has cropped detail. You can
get away with it on hard edges, like
buildings.
