We also say "pissed off" but sometimes it's shortened to "pissed".
American English (uncommonly I think) also uses "pissed" to mean drunk.
The difference would have to be made by context. I suppose Brian
could have gotten drunk since someone used his photo on Facebook but it
seems to me the least likely interpretation.
