I thought those little, tinted overlapping rectangles were supposed to make 
that less of an issue. Sorry, couldn't 
resist a shot at rangefinders.

Focus bracketing really is an option. Once you dump the wrong ones, your extra 
cost is $0 and a few moments of your 
time. If it's worth shooting, is it worth 2-4 additional shots, to get the 
right focus?

I'm very fortunate, in that my vision remains far younger than its 69 years, in 
acuity, at least. I use progressive 
lenses and a separate pair for the computer, but once looking through the right 
lens ...

Even though I can focus easily through a SLR or EVF viewfinder, I often go to 
MF and bracket on some subjects. Nobody 
but me sees the ones that didn't work. ;-)

Better than #2, but still would be better focused maybe 1 1/2" forward.
