Nope, Continental.  Made in Chicago.  Brazed joints, thin tubes.  Heavy
frame.

I converted the bottom bracket to European with an adapter and put in a
used Sugano crankset.  I prefer down tube shifters and it was a bit of a
job to make something work, but they are a joy to use now.  Front
derailleur is stock as there is no point in trying to make something from
Japan work with the skinny tubes.  Rear derailleur is a Suntour of some
sort I got for about $5.

I should probably change the wheels to an economical set of 700s.
The cyclocross tires on the 27" rims leave very little clearance for the
fenders which are essential for riding in the snow.

It would really have made more sense for me just to have spent the money on
a bike intended for the purpose, but I've had fun.
