Tina has it right.  You (and your doctor) are too much under the 
influence of the statin industry.  While it's not pigs the Maasai seem 
to survive quite well on a diet that western medicine says should kill 
them: "raw milk, raw blood, raw meat and some vegetables and fruits, 
although in many villages they do not eat any fruit or vegetables at 
all".  I'd be more concerned about the nitrates in the bacon and not at

Fat and cholesterol are good for you.  If you're elderly the higher your 
cholesterol the longer you live.  Simple as that.
