Thank you.  I seem to be on a similar GAS trajectory to yours, just many
years behind you.  I really wanted to like the 18-180.

I like the cheapo kit lens that came out with the 4xx series -- 14-42 and
40-150 -- and I go with them often and am usually pleased.  The problem is
that I seem always to want to be where the one lens is too short and the
other is too long!
