Just a note on screen sizes and resolution. The typical viewing
distance is 5-8x screen height. You can see this in action with
smartphones. It may be a small screen, but it is held at almost that
perfect distance from the eyes. The bigger the screen, the farther you
move back. With few exceptions (I'm sure Moose is going to pipe in
about his 10-foot tall television screen which he sits three feet away
from--but he's just wierd), this tracks almost perfectly. Just go into
a movie theatre and you'll see that the bulk of the people will vie
for spots in the area at 5x screen height. At home, the bigger the
screen, the farther the couch is from the television.

So, for projection, again, consider viewing distance. It isn't the
screen size itself that matters much for resolution, it's the
height/distance ratio that is so important.

As to the projection systems, the biggest issue there is the gate size
of each pixel. Many screens have very pronounced outlines between each
pixel. The newer, higher-end ones actually have microlenses on the
pixels that do the same thing as microlenses on a camera sensor--they
increase the "fill factor" and will actually hide the pixel
boundaries. Resolution isn't increased, but the image becomes much
nicer to look at.
