Alternate shots that I would be doing over that same 30 minute stretch of time:

1. No man, just the flag laying on the track

2. Streaks of automobile brake lights trailing off down the track in each lane.

The brake lights would have to be a superimposed shot taken after dark
so you wouldn't get the car ghosting in the scene. (car(s) need to be
driven with headlights off if you want just the streaks. Headlights on
if you want to use them as some artificial fill down the length of the
track, but beware of shadowing/ghosting.

While there, I would be doing multiple variations. However, one thing
that I would do is get a very precise camera position figured out
which allows you to repeat the setting in different sessions.
